EPEKTO ART PROJECTS
Epekto Exhibits in Washington DC
Maryrose Cobarrubias Mendoza "I just had to look", 2014 Colored pencil on paper under Plexiglas, 11”x5” approx.
(De)Centered
A few Epekto members took place in a group exhibit in Washington DC put together by Filipino American Artist's Directory featuring Filipinx Americans from all across the US.
.......
(De)Centered brings together 19 Filipino American artists in the capital of the United States. The artists included in the exhibition are based throughout the country, on both coasts as well as the Midwest and South. These artists all show a connection to both the Philippines and the US in their work and the attempt to remain centered in both places.
This will be FIL/AM Artist Directory's inaugural exhibition in collaboration with Isabel Manalo of The Studio Visit, as well as the official launch party for our recent publication. The exhibition and launch will be held at WAS gallery (wasgallery.com). Books will be available for purchase at the gallery. You can also order yours at filamartistdirectory.com/about.
Opening night schedule:
The show will open on May 13 from 6-9 pm and the curator's talk will begin at 5:30. We are happy to have DJ Les Talusan joining us beginning at 6:30. Lumpia will be provided from Purple Patch DC.
The show will run through June 16 (gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 12:30–5:30 pm, and by appointment).
