Listen to the Silence Conference
Epekto Art Projects co-created a mural at the Listen to the Silence (LTS) conference at Stanford University. This is an annual conference hosted by the Asian American Students’ Association discussing pressing Asian American issues of today. A few of the Epekto members (Carla, Mike, Kim, Mel, Millette and Pamela) painted with some conference attendees to create a mural together. We laid down a foundation to create some structure to the mural and encouraged everyone to paint anything they wanted on top.
The 21st annual LTS held on Saturday, January 28, 2017. This year’s theme, “Know History, Know Self, Know Solidarity,” focuses on restoring the tradition of solidarity in the Asian American movement and advancing a vision of justice that emphasizes our intricate ties to other communities of color. Through this theme, we seek to engage in the exploration of intersectionality, coalition, and collectivity as we strive to unite with other movements.
